In order to be able to use this section of the Greek National Natural Gas System (NNGS), TAP is following the official procedure set out by the Greek law. As one of the first steps in this process, Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) in Greece included TAP into the User Registry of the NNGS in December 2011. As the next step, DESFA will review TAP's request for reservation of transportation capacity in the NNGS for 10 bcm of natural gas for 25 years as submitted on 16 of September 2011.
From Komotini westwards, TAP is developing and intending to construct an Independent Natural Gas System. The relevant application to receive the rights for this section of the pipeline in Greece was submitted in September 2011. Read more here
TAP expects to receive all relevant permits in Greece and in other transit countries well in advance of the pipeline construction to be ready for the first gas from Shah Deniz field in Azerbaijan in 2017/18.
